We are THE FAT STACKS

This band project began in 2023 with a simple goal: To significantly contribute to the cultural scene in Edinburgh and eventually beyond by providing an exceptional live music experience.
What started at an acoustic jam session in Edinburgh quickly grew to a full band project. Our name, The Fat Stacks, came from our first live show where someone commented on an amp setup, calling it a “Fat Stack”.
We grew into the scene starting at open mics and band showcases. Now, we are playing gigs all over Edinburgh in iconic venues such as Sneaky Pete’s, Caberet Voltaire, Voodoo Rooms, Whistlebinkies, and Stramash.
We’ve worked tirelessly as a band to craft both our songs and our show to provide a space where our audience can rock out, have fun, and dance away their demons. We couldn’t do this without all our support from friends and family, and that is what has made this project so special.
Whether you see us at a show or hear our music on Spotify or Apple Music, you’ll find a dedication to our craft as we continue to create, learn, have fun, and grow together as a band. We are a band but we are also so much more than that; our fans, friends, and family, and without everyone, we couldn’t do what we do today.

Meet the band

Declan is our lead singer and rhythm guitarist and is also heavily involved in the song writing. He was brought up in a musical household in Wakefield, learning guitar from his dad. At age 16, his mum pushed him to start writing songs. Lyrics and songs are what really excite him, and his lyricism is inspired by lyrical poets such as Patty Smith, Bob Dylan, and Alex Turner.
Declan loves being centre stage, and it’s exciting to see him feeding off the crowd’s energy during live shows.
Tom is our lead guitarist. Originally from Oxford, he first picked up a guitar when he was 16 and spent his first few years obsessing over blues, funk, and classic rock.
His playing style is heavily inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King, utilising similar string-bending techniques. For The Fat Stacks, he blends these influences with indie riffs and shoegaze effects to create his sound.

Gregor is our bass player. Originally from the Scottish Borders, he started playing bass aged 13. After only playing for a few weeks, he immediately decided that bass was his calling. Gregor’s playing style is very powerful, and he brings a strong grounding in bass, consistently playing with flair to get the crowds moving.
